"Outstanding Care!"

My son ( and our family ) recieved excellent care at The Walton Centre, during his recent 3 month stay. Having sustained a traumatic brain injury, he was swiftly admitted onto the Intensive care unit, where he spent the next two weeks. We were all made to feel welcome on the unit, not only did the staff look after our son amazingly well, but they also kept us sain during this very traumatic period, by keeping us fully updated of his progress. The compassion shown to us by all the staff ( Consultants / Nurses/ Management / Domestic staff / Therapists ) was second to none. I could try to name all of the staff who cared for him, however I'd hate to miss somebody out! - This amazing team saved his life. After two weeks, he was moved to Lipton ward, a specialist acute neuro rehabilitation unit. At this stage he was unable to eat, drink, talk or walk, all of the basic skills in life that we take granted, however with the fantastic individualised treatment from all of the staff on this ward, ( OT, Physios , Nurses, Psychologists, Speech and language therapists, Consultants ) he was soon able to do all of the above. For this we will be forever grateful. His final part of the The Walton Centre journey was a month spent on the CRU ( complex rehabilitation unit ). The work done at this stage is brilliant, it must be very difficult for the staff to keep patients motivated, with such a variance in physical and cognitive difficulties, however, once again we encountered smiling, happy, dedicated staff, who work creatively with patients to achieve personal goals. They worked closely with my son and our family to ensure his discharge and goal to return to education went as smoothly as possible. This included, regular goal setting meetings and introducing us to members of the community rehab team who would continue to support him at home. Communication is excellent, We were kept informed of his condition / consulted with regarding his care at every stage of this journey. The food was of a high standard, the building is kept in excellent condition, and the clinical areas are kept spotless. I can not thank The Walton Centre enough, we will be forever grateful! We hope to fundraise in the future to show our true appreciation to this amazing Trust - Thank you all - Keep up the good work!
