"There needs to be more cleanliness"

About: Central Lancashire PCT / Community nursing Royal Preston Hospital

(as the patient),

There is one particular point I would like to bring to your attention. Several times I have noticed a nurse coming to my home in their hospital uniforms which I think is most unsatisfactory. This could be the cause for MRSA, something you do not catch just in the hospital! I am a regular patient at Royal Preston Hospital and I think everyone does a good job. But when you can see uniform brought home I think they have been cleaning in the same clothes. And what about young people with children? Have they been playing in the streets with their children in their uniforms? Visitors also need watching in their garments sitting on beds not looking particularly clean. Maybe providing a cover garment when visiting the wards until they leave? There also needs to be more cleanliness in washing hands when dealing with infected patients.

Dear Glowing816

Thank you for posting your comments and concerns about infection control and nurses uniforms.

In order to provide a more complete response, I will contact the appropriate person within NHS Central Lancashire who can provide more information about community nurses and their uniforms.
