I was admitted to Glasgow royal A. E in extreme pain. I waited 8 hours before a doctor examined me. I asked a nurse if she could give me pain relief. She said not without a doctor raising it, so for hours I was in extreme pain. I asked if my husband could be called in to distract me from pain. I was told they were too busy. I was waiting 8 hours in cubical and my husband was outside 8 hours.
When doctor came I found his manners appalling. I asked if he could give me pain relief as I was starting to feel the pain unbearable. He promptly stated, will you let me examine you?
13 hours later I was put up to the admission ward. It was then I saw my husband for the first time in 13 hours! My husband said he frequently asked for updates and he did not receive any. I am really scared of this hospital now. This was my first experience. Hopefully it will be my last.
There seemed to be no care, no manners and no concern. I feel this made me more stressed and anxious. I could have seriously done without this added pressure.
