"Thank you to all the maternity staff"

About: Newham General Hospital

I had my baby in Newham hospital in September, and I'm surprised to read the negative reviews as my experience was overall very positive from start to finish. Yes, the clinic was running very late for one of my antenatal scans but the sonographer was apologetic and took time to explain everything to us thoroughly rather than rushing us through. I think we have to accept that we are all human and sometimes things won't go exactly according to how we would like. On the delivery suite the midwives were all very kind and communicated very clearly with me. They were very supportive during the delivery and afterwards. Unfortunately I do feel I wasn't given the support I needed with breastfeeding on the post-natal ward. The staff all seemed very busy and no-one really came to see how I was getting on or to offer support before discharge. However, my baby was re-admitted a week later and we stayed again on the post-natal ward. This time, I feel that I was supported a lot more, however by that time it turned out to be too late for me to be successful at breastfeeding. I would like to thank in particular the midwife and the Paediatrician for their fantastic work. We are very grateful to have had you and all the other staff helping us.
