About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

On 22/9/14 I had a sigmoidoscopy , I had a colonoscopy on 4/10/14 , several biopsies were taken. When I was discharged on 4/10/14 I was told I would receive an appointment for clinic when all my test results including the histology would be discussed with me and appropriate treatment commenced. It is now four weeks on and I have no appointment and therefore no results. After three weeks I contacted the Gastro Unit, the clerical staff there were unable/unwilling to help me, ignoring that I had been told I would get an appointment, and telling me to contact my GP, which I did, but they had no more information than I had. After looking at these reviews I contacted the PALS and a very helpful lady made inquiries on my behalf, she called me back as promised. She told me that she had spoken to the consultants secretary and been told that I would be contacted within a day or two, there has been no contact. I have been ill now since 6/8/14 my GP has done her best but without a differential diagnosis she cannot prescribe condition specific treatment. I find this waiting unacceptable , my symptoms continue unabated and my level of anxiety increases. Why am I still waiting, when will I receive the help and treatment I need????

I can understand why this would increase your anxiety; it is not an acceptable service. Unfortunately, all I can suggest is to contact the PALS department again. They can speak to the Consultant's secretary and find out why you have not been contacted and then make sure an appointment is made for you. I am really sorry this has happened. The contact details are 01274 364021 at Bradford Royal Infirmary or 01274 365853 at St. Luke’s Hospital. The text phone number for deaf people is 01274 382580 at Bradford Royal Infirmary. You can also email pals@bthft.nhs.uk. Thank you.
