"Minor Injuries seems very effective for what it..."

About: Purley War Memorial Hospital

Went there to get some stitches. Very efficient and pleasant. Staff seemed happy and to work together well. Much better from my point of view than going to Croydon A&E, and of course it also shortens the queue at Croydon A&E. I do some some potential worries. First, it's not very well-publicised. Second, I really hope that expending resources on this unit really does improve things at Croydon University Hospital. As the name suggests, Minor Injuries doesn't offer a very wide range of treatment -- I kind of feel like the company may have cherry-picked the easy stuff leaving overcrowded Croydon Uni Hospital to deal with the hard stuff. But I'd definitely come here again for wounds and things and just to get initial advice e.g. if the kids were hurt. And honestly the staff were *so* positive and nice.

I am pleased that you had a good experience at the Minor Injuries Unit and thank you for taking the time to let us know. We do encourage people to use local services where a trip to A&E might not be necessary, and I am pleased that this worked well for you. The decision to change the status of the unit at Purley War Memorial Hospital to a Minor Injuries Unit was made by the Croydon Clinical Commissioning Group ( www.croydonccg.nhs.uk ) and the Unit is operated by AT Medics, a GP-led company. I will ensure that your comments are passed on to AT Medics but you can also contact them direct through www.atmedics.org.uk. Graham Richardson, Deputy Manager PALS and Complaints
