"Cardiac bypass at Northern General"

About: Northern General Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I was treated very well and appreciate the help and expertise of all concerned. However, I found one or two things lacking:

1) At the Admissions Clinic, we should have been better informed of admission to the ward. We arrived at 13:30 and could not be admitted to the ward. Apparently it was 'quiet hour', something about which we had not been told.

2) When we were eventually admitted to the ward, we were not met or welcomed by anyone. My wife struggled to find someone and then we sat for an hour without anyone acknowledging that we were there.

3) I arrived with all that I needed for a stay in hospital, but I was told to send most of it home, as I would only be needing pyjamas and essential toiletries. My wife, who is disabled, struggled to return home with the heavy bag.

4) Cleanliness was not good. A toilet was left heavily soiled needing cleaning for 3 days. Absolutely disgusting.
