"Amazing care for my son on Starlight ward "

About: Barnet Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was born on in Dec 2013 by an elective c section. When he was born he was having some trouble drinking his first bottle which myself and the doctors thought were a bit odd. Within 5 minutes of being in the recovery room, the midwife had realised something was wrong and asked for a doctor from the Starlight ward to come and take a look at my son.

The doctor immediately realised that my son was having problems with his breathing and explained to me what was going to happen. My son was then taken to Starlight ward, were my husband followed. Within minutes, he was placed onto all the right machines and put into an incubator. The doctor explained were my son was born by c-section he had some fluid on the lungs.

Thank god, within a week he was allowed home. The moral of my story is I am so grateful to all the staff that realised something was wrong and picked up on it straight away. The care that my son received I couldn't of asked for any better.

The midwives, nurses and doctors do an amazing job on that ward, without them who knows what could of happened. I can't thank them enough for everything they did for my son and they made me and my partner feel very welcome, explained everything they were going to do etc.

I would love to donate something to the ward, so if you could let me no how I could go about doing that please. I really cant express enough the amazing job you do and I am so very very thankful for everything you did for us. thank you x
