"My mother's cancer was diagnosed too late"

About: Nottinghamshire County Teaching PCT

(as a relative),

My mother was diagnosed with diabetes in 2001 and she died in 2002 from pancreatic cancer.

Her doctor insisted it was age-related diabetes. Nurses from the surgery did not believe this as nor did we. She became very ill and in tremendous pain but the doctor still did nothing. Eventually she was diagnosed a month before she died.

We miss her so much and she was only 74, we understand if it had been diagnosed early we could had her here for a few more years. We complained to the surgery but were told that if we took it any further we would all have to find another doctor, so we decided to boycott her GP and only see the other docs, which we still do now.
