"Sprained foot treatment 29.10.14"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

I thought I had sustained a broken bone in the foot as a result of a running injury yesterday. I was 'processed ' within 2 hours. Very well looked after and I felt very bad because it turned out to be a sprained foot. This could have been treated by the GP. As I am self employed I wanted to be sure I could carry on working today or make arrangements other wise. I am really sorry if I wasted your time but I was feeling quite bad at teatime and did not want to come to a&e in the middle of the night. I did not feel that it could wait for the 8.50 appointment with the GP which was an option offered.

Thank you for sharing your experience of our Emergency Department (ED). We are pleased to hear that you felt you were seen quickly and you were very well looked after.

We would like to reassure you that you do not need to apologise to us for attending the ED when you suspected you had broken a bone in your foot.

While it is important to us as an NHS Trust to raise awareness of the different ways people can get medical treatment, especially for minor injuries or ailments which do not need hospital care and may be better treated via a walk-in centre or via a GP - if in your case you suspected you may have broken a bone, you were right to attend the ED and seek treatment there.

We hope you are now recovered well from your injury.
