I broke my wrist in Turkey, was operated on, ex-rayed, plastered with a very heavy plaster with a slit down one side for flying home. Through a misunderstanding at my doctors surgery, I tried to make an appointment directly with the fracture clinic myself, but was told the earliest they could offer me was 29th.Oct and When I explained the Dr in Turkey who had carried out the operation had stressed to me that it needed to be ex-rayed and plastered within a week, I was told to come to A & E, which I did. I went in and the first person i saw in the minor injuries clinic on the morning of 22nd October, did not really listen to what I said. I gave him the folder containing all details and ex-rays of the operation. He did give a cursory look at the ex-rays and my plaster, ignored the notes and recommendations, and said all was satisfactory and made me an appointment for me for 29th. I have since visited Cirencester hospital, where they replaced my very heavy plaster with a back slab, and told me I must keep my appointment with you for the 29th for further ex-ray and re-plastering. This I did yesterday and I have to say I was extremely impressed with the smiling, efficiently run, busy fracture clinic at Pembury.. i am returning on Tuesday for a further ex-ray and am hoping that the extra waiting time has not led to complications.
