"Losing confidence in neurology at Colchester General Hospital"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Neurology

(as the patient),

I am a young adult who is still awaiting blood test results, originally taken in August 2008. Initially the consultant was very friendly and put my concerns to bed. Now however I have been told (January 2009) that my blood test results were lost, and had to have them re-taken, which I did. Now, three months on, still no results as promised.

I am pre-diagnosis Peripheral Neuropathy, and am a young sufferer, who for the past eight months has lived with constant aching pain, with hardly no sleep, which has impacted on both my working and personal life.

After my blood test results were taken in August 2008, three months later I chased these as I had heard nothing from the Neurology Dept. The secretary who was very indifferent said that these things take time and that I had to wait. By the end of December I called again, and was told the same thing. Then in January 2009 I was told that they were mislaid. I was given a letter of apology from the consultant, but this far, if I had not been chasing and calling the Dept, then I still would not have been aware that my results were lost.

Surely the neurologist's secreatry should be chasing my blood test results?

Now in April 2009 I still have heard nothing from them. The secretary's attitude is disgusting. And I am appalled at the service this department has offered me. It seems that I am just one of a number, and I have lost any confidence in either the secretary or the neurologist.

Even PALS at the Colchester General have not helped me in any way, and now I do not know where to turn.
