"Pre-operative assessment"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

I attended the Lancashire Cardiac Centre Pre-Operative Assessment Unit. The unit is very, very busy but my experience was uniformly excellent. The doctors, nurses and support staff worked very hard and were quietly efficient, highly competent and deeply compassionate. At every stage they made me feel that I was an individual, they gave freely of their time and I came away with a renewed sense of confidence that I was in the best possible hands. If I said that I was looking forward to the big op, I would be telling a fib; but of one thing I absolutely certain - I know from experience that the staff at the Lancashire Cardiac Centre will be giving of their very best.

I am really pleased to hear that the staff treated you so well and that you were involved in your care plan and treated as an individual throughout every stage of your visit. I will be sharing your kind comments with the teams involved in your treatment. I was wondering if you would like to be involved in our patient stories programme, where you share the experience you had with me informally on camera so we can play it back to the staff involved, so they can directly see and hear how their actions have affected you and your family. Visual experiences are a very powerful learning tool and we love to share positive stories like yours in training sessions and in team meetings to share best practice within the organisation and provide reassurance to other parents and patients who may be accessing this service in the future.
