"Horrified !"

Today at 29 weeks pregnant I noticed a bloody watery discharge that soaked my underwear. I laboured very fast with my daughter whom they sent me packing with back in 2011 saying I wasn't in labour to only then have me rushed back to A&E where she was born within the hour. Today I phoned the daily assessment unit explaining my symptoms and was immediately dismissed being told to just wear a pad and see what happens. I called my Dr surgery who called the daily assessment back and they said because the woman in the assessment unit wasn't concerned that neither should I be. Going to A&E a consultant sent me straight to maternity where it was revealed to us that the delivery ward was actually closed being too busy and it was very apparent they were understaffed as there was just 1 midwife going between me and another woman and I had to wait to have my baby monitored because there wasn't a machine free but then the midwife seemed almost elated that she managed to get another machine from somewhere. I was examined and told my ectropion that had caused previous bleeding was still bleeding and would need to be burned in about a months time. My own Private consultant said that ectropion is down to hormone changes due to pregnancy and no need to have this burning procedure done which e thought wasn't advisable to have in pregnancy. The poor midwife was rushed off her feet but after the horrible treatment I received from the daily assessment unit over the phone and instant dismissal of my concerns over the blood tinged fluid id leaked that soaked my underwear I'll not be having my baby at this hospital. I'm now looking into an alternative route of care for me and my baby. A stressed out under staffed environment is not fair for any expecting mothers and I'm not even full term yet as I was really stressed and anxious so by the time I got to the hospital I was very upset and felt like I was just being a nuisance. After leaving the hospital I could feel I was in shock still and ended up with a thumping headache. So much for trying to reassure and keep expecting mothers calm when they are feeling most vulnerable. Never again !
