"Eternal thanks for excellent care"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / General surgery

(as the patient),

On the 22/04/08 on my way home from work in Sheffield, I had extreme pain in my stomach. When I arrived home in Doncaster I started to be violently sick (brown colour). My wife immediately took me to DRI. At the hospital my appendix exploded filling my body with litres and litres of brown liquid. Within 10hours I was operated upon. It would have been quicker if there had not been some emergency operations to perform. Whilst waiting for my operation, the care I received was exceptional. The surgeon also apologised for the delay. I told him I understand that emergencies were more important.

Without being too melodramatic, I feel I would not be here today if it wasn’t for the excellent care I received from the nurses, doctors and surgeons prior, during and after my operation. With GP and NHS care I was deemed fully fit in December 2008. My eternal thanks to all concerned.
