About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

I arrived 15 mins early for my appointment and was left waiting nearly 2 hours before being seen for 5 minutes. No reason was given for the wait so I can only assume there's no decent system in place. People don't mind waiting if there's a good reason or if we're kept updated but leaving me sitting there for nearly 2 hours is rude and insulting and makes me believe you don't really know what you're doing.

Response from Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for your feedback. We were sorry to learn that your experience was not as positive as we would have hoped in the ENT department. It is important to us that comments are heard and seen as an opportunity provided to the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible.

I am sorry that you experienced a prolonged wait for your consultation. It is sometimes the case that patient’s have a longer than usual wait past their appointment time and this can be due to various factors such as the number of patient’s being seen that day and their individual requirements which can vary from person to person and result in consultants over running. However, we would always expect patients to be kept up to date and informed of any delays and must apologise that this did not happen in your case. Your concerns have also been raised directly with the staff / department involved so that they can look into them so that others don’t experience the same issues as you did.

It is difficult to respond to all the posts in a full way often because of a lack of detailed information, therefore if you would like to discuss this with us in more detail, please feel free to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk
