"Dexa scan weight limit not made clear to users."

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I turned up on time for a dexa scan, they weighed me. Being a big lad I was slightly over the limit. They refused to scan me. So my trip and the appointment was wasted. The department should put the weight limit on the appointment letters they send out thus saving time and cost for all concerned. This should be circulated to the GP's when they make the initial referral. Unhappy patient.

Dear reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. We are really sorry to hear that you were not made aware of the weight limit before coming in for your appointment. Your GP should have checked this before making the referral. We will ensure we communicate the guidance around dexa scans to GPs in our monthly newsletter to avoid this happening again in future. Kind regards, Peter Sheldon Consultant Rheumatologist Leicester’s Hospitals
