"A service to be proud of"

About: South Tyneside District Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a carer),

My Mother who is 83 fell and broke her arm. After a 999 call I was told no ambulances would be available for hours and I should driver her to A+E myself.

After this shaky start I was extremely impressed with the whole service. A+E were fast, compassionate and took in to account my Mums hearing problems and her Alzheimer's.

We quickly went though the X ray department and minor injuries who were all excellent and at no time did I have to chase anything or any one.

Chris from the discharge team was brilliant and after sorting me out with some extra support stayed with my Mother while I went and recovered my car.

A service to be proud of.

Thank you for your comments on your mother’s experience of our A&E services in September last year. I am delighted everything went well for your mother and sincerely hope she has fully recovered from her fall. I will ensure your kind comments are shared with the respective teams. Kind regards Lorraine B Lambert Chief Executive
