"Labour Ward a Discrace!"

About: Southport & Formby District General Hospital

Had my daughter 10 weeks ago at Ormskirk hospital, the whole experience was terrible and terrifying, it was really quite barbaric. Not at all like what you see on the TV or what the midwifes/antenatal clinic had advised. Totally incompetent staff, understaffed, dirty and chaotic! 10 weeks on and I am now under a private hospital preparing to have an operation to put right what Ormskirk hospital did wrong! I have struggled with my baby as I have been so ill since leaving hospital and I really do believe it all could have been avoided if I had been treated properly at Ormskirk. I am writing an official complaint but after speaking to many other women who have experienced similar levels of treatment and have complained, nothing is done. I would strongly recommend anyone having there first baby not to go to Ormskirk Hospital, they have ruined my childbirth experience and the first months of having my baby and being too ill to care for her without help. I will add a week after coming home I had to call an ambulance as I was haemorrhaging badly and I was taken to Southport A&E, the staff there where absolutely lovely, so caring and gentle, absolutely excellent. One nurse I spoke to about my experience even said it should not have happened and I needed to make a complaint so it doesn't happen again.
