"ward 9 hip replacement."

About: Heartlands Hospital

Hi I am very please to be able to leave this comment and hope its passed on to the staff. I shall try to break this into three parts. (1)on the 11/10/14 i went to Solihull hospital to have a injection in to my hip as I had had a fall back in May and was told it was a soft tissue injury. Despite numerous visits to my gp and phsyio it was not get better, infact it was getting worst. My physio wrote to my GP asking me to be refered back to the hospital, which they did and was booked in for a injection in to my hip so they could do more physio. When they tried to do the injection the realised that my hip was infact broken and was told that they needed to admit me give me a CT scan and transfer me to the heartlands. In hearing this I had a bit of a melt down mainly because I had been saying to my gp there is some thing not right and I was starting to think it was me or in my mind as my GP was saying that there was nothing wrong with me. Anyway they persuaded me to stay and I was transferred to the heartlands hospital (ward 9). The staff there went out of there way to put me at ease and was told that they would operate on sunday (12/10/14). Due to problems I was not operated on until the Monday. After the operation I was amazed the pain that I had been suffering for the past 5 months had gone, and even more important I could sleep in a bed again, so thank you all the thearte staff for doing such a good job with the operation. (2) food &cleaning, on the whole the food was good. I had choices every time except once in fact the fish pie was really nice would recommend if you get the chance you try it. Cleaning - the same again on the whole the cleaning was good except the shower toilet room were the emergency pull cord was broke for at least 4 days and paper and clothes were just left on the floor for some one to pick up. This was always done after the cleaner had done the toilets and the mess was left by lazy patents. But may be the toilets could be checked more often thats the only fault I would pick up on. (3)sisters,nurses,aux,s ward doctors and any other ward staff. Nothing but praise. I don't know how the do it they are always happy try to help were possible, you could have a laugh and a joke if you are feeling down the would try to pick you up they treat you all the same even the awkward patents. I can see why people say that they are the hub of the NHS because they are they keep the NHS going , I know i could not do their job. So I would just like to say one word and it is meant from the bottom of my heart 'thank you ward 9'.
