"Thank you Wexham maternity Staff!"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

I just want to say thank you very much for the amazing care we had throughout the birth of our little boy on the 11th of October. We had very good care from the moment I went to the Isis birth center and delivered our baby until our boy's jaundice treatment a few days later. The experience at the birth center was fantastic from the moment my water broke at 5:30 on the morning of the 10th of October, we called triage and they asked us to go in for a check and explained the procedure. I went back in the evening with contractions 4 minutes apart and we started to be looked after by the Midwife and her trainee midwife. They were absolutely fantastic! We cannot thank them enough. I checked in around 1 in the morning and our baby was delivered at 5:50 inside the bath, the Midwife and her trainee midwife were reassuring me all the time they made us feel very comfortable and the whole experience was perfect. After the birth my placenta had to be removed manually and I went to ward 21. Again I had the best care. I have to mention another midwife helping with my procedure and the doctor involved too (unfortunately I cannot remember his name ) and the whole team. I started to panic because of the Epidural and they were again fantastic - doing everything to calm me down and reassure me - and the procedure was very successful. I had no complications following it. Because of this procedure and the baby's jaundice we had to stay in the hospital for a few days and again the care was the best. The only thing I must mention is that there are differences between staff. I have to mention some outstanding ones such as the nurse, the paediatrician and another 4 members of staff. These ladies were the best and we really hope you can extend this big thank you to them. The only down side is that there is a massive difference between the day shift staff and the night shift staff. Although a bit if a generalisation, I did have some exceptions on the night shift that helped very much and were lovely at the same time, but I would say 90% of the night shift were not great and this is the time where we need them the most as our partners are not around. Apart from that I can say that the whole experience was great taking to account that this is a extremely busy hospital, like any other profession there are people who genuinely care about patients and look after them - and then there are people that just take as a job and don't care at all. Thank you Wexham maternity Isis birth center and ward 21.

Dear New Mum, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review; most of which seems to have been a positive experience for you and your family. We try to give a high standard of care across all of the maternity specialities at all times. We are sorry that on this very special occasion your experience was blemished by the care given to you by our night staff. I will investigate this matter further and make staff aware of all of the points that you have raised; both good and those for improvement. It is important to celebrate our successes as well as working hard to make changes. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the birth of your baby boy. I am pleased that you were able to achieve a waterbirth and that you are both making good progress. If you would like to discuss this matter further, I am happy for you to contact me.
