My 4 month old son was admitted to ward 8 paediatrics, after 5 hours in a&e we sat for 4 hours in paediatrics assessment before being told we were to stay overnight, they were very busy so we expected the wait which we was ok about until I was asked if I wanted a sandwich as hadn't eaten all day to then be told 'oh sorry you don't breastfeed so we're not allowed to feed you'- I thought this was unfair and discriminative to women who can't breastfeed although obviously due to cuts in budgets. Other than this we found most of the nurses and staff to be fab explaining everything as they were going along although there was one that never said a word and when asked a question brushed me off and then disappeared- due to the time I think she was finishing her shift. During our four day stay we were overall impressed with the paediatrics ward and the way they cared for my son and myself making me actually go and eat something rather than chaining myself to my baby's bedside!! Overall a good experience!
