"Absolute disgrace"

About: Southmead Hospital

My 84 year old mother which had been operated on for bowel cancer 5 years ago was admitted with severe abdominal swelling, vomiting and severe pain. For this she was given paracetamol and water for three days. No drs to talk to No diagnosis & sent home to be readmitted a week later with the same thing waited 6 days for an MRI scan and sent home after. Just found out her outpatients appt to find out the results of the MRI is in two and a half months time !!! its a joke ! so its back to the GP to try and get answers! As a flag ship hospital its appalling, dirty rooms, poor staffing levels, treatment confusion as there seems to be too many chiefs and not enough indians, flu infected staff and those who were not seemed to have a very low moral. Its stressful enough having a sick relative in hospital but coupled with lack of parking, incompetent staff and a building that just serves as eye candy the experience certainly aint sweet!!
