"Making an unpleasant experience bearable"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

I had treatment in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and do so every few weeks. Before visiting the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Blackburn hospital, I hadn't been to the dentist since being a very young child due to a traumatic experience of having teeth removed and I am now 19. I was extremely nervous to have an hour long session of having a tooth pull, a screw implanted and braces fitted. The orthodontist that I have been assigned to is wonderful, helpful and caring and the dental nurses that help along side him are equally fab! I was made to feel comfortable and reassured that they wouldn't do anything they didn't want me to, I was talked through the procedure and kept updated at every step throughout. I was literally given a helping hand by the dental nurse who let me hold her hand throughout. It made something for me that I was nervous and upset about for week before hand bearable and I feel with the same people, In the same place I could even go through it again. I also visit every few weeks to have my braces tightened and everytime I go I still feel like I'm getting the same levels of fantastic care and attention. All staff are very helpful continuously and I'm happy with my treatment and care at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Blackburn hospital. Thank-you!
