About: North Tyneside General Hospital

Arrived at the hospital at approximately 11.45pm on 21.10.14 with my 5 month old daughter. I was seen by the triage nurse within 45 minutes. Fab. Was told that there wouldn't be too long of a wait and with her being so young she should be seen pretty quickly. 3 hours later after asking how many were in front of her, I was told she was next to be seen. Then when I went back to reception to ask if they knew how much longer she would have to wait I was told there was two more patients in front of her. I understand that when an emergency occurs it's all hands on but I can't understand why a 5 month old baby is left in the waiting room for 3 hours? Completely disgusted in the Nhs tonight. Really let my family down. H

Dear Sir/Madam, I am so sorry that you have had a poor experience with your little girl in A&E and I am particularly saddened that this has left you feeling so personally let down by the NHS.  I can fully appreciate the worries and concerns you must had for your daughter that night. I have shared your comments with the team and I know that they will welcome that chance to understand why the wait occurred in the way that it did, and also how the lack of information impacted on you and your family. Can I thank you for taking the time to share these frustrations with us. All feedback gives us the opportunity to learn and improve and whilst some feedback is not always easy to hear, it is always important that we listen. Apologies again – I hope your wee girl is a lot better now.  Take care, Annie
