"Why was I left waiting for 3 hours?"

About: Barnet Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I am a 51 years old lady, who runs my own business. I was proud about this country, until today, when I experienced the worst time of my life in Barnet Hospital. I want to complain, as I don't want other people to go through what I've been tonight.

Was sitting talking to a friend and all of the sudden I felt dizzy, pressure in my head blurred vision, numbness on my left arm, feeling of passing out. I got so scared, I thought I'm having a stroke, so my daughter called an ambulance they took me in Barnet Hospital. They told me, I have to wait for 3 hours to see doctor. Then everything got worse, with my left arm numb and pins and needles, couldn’t lift my arm. I was so upset, there were no doctors to see me for 3 hours. I couldn’t believe that after all that waiting, I see a student doctor, which didn't know what to do.

I pay taxes and hope when I'm I'll they should look after me. I had a horrible experience of this hospital. NHS is the backbone of this country but, when you are so bad, there should be a doctor to see you soon as you get to the hospital. The hospital seemed stretched to its limits, and short of nurses and doctors.

As an organisation we are committed from learning from specific issues and from any mistakes we have made. Hearing about where we can do better helps us to pinpoint where exactly to make improvements to the service we provide. Your feedback has been passed to the Matron responsible for emergency services
