"A minor chest pain"

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

A minor chest pain led to a blood test by my GP followed up by an A&E admission to QMC later that day. Although not a critical case the paramedics who took me in were professionally careful and very informative on everything they did. A&E and the QMC cardiac team were just the same. At no point was I not told clearly what the diagnosis was or what test they were carrying out and why. I was relatively quickly transfered to City for an angiogram which took 4 days to happen. 2 days due to a weekend, 1 day to get on the schedule, then cancellation because of an emergency taking precedence followed by first place the following morning. One Stent and discharge the next day.

I think the technology is fantastic. The care an information by nursing staff, doctors and the consultants excellent including during the angiogram and placement of the stent. I have seen photos before, during and after which have given me confidence in the outcome. Loads of information was available and clearly presented all the time. It would have been nicer if I had not had to wait to get finally sorted out but I was never kept in the dark. I am totally grateful to the whole NHS system and the staff for the way I was handled.
