"Guy - My treatment in the Haematology Department"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

Following many visits to Haematology clinic and Haematology Day ward I was diagnosed with Leukaemia, and was a patient in Haematology Ward 30 on 3 separate occasions to receive chemotherapy treatment between May and September 2014. The care I received throughout the entire process was simply superb, the dedication and professionalism of the staff at all levels was simply outstanding. Whenever I thanked any of the staff I was informed that there was no need as they said 'it was their job to care for me'. Without question ALL of the staff including Day Ward and Clinic stated that they loved working on the Haematology unit. The consultant and team are to be congratulated for their unstinted level of care, dedication, attention to detail and professionalism, which I believe is down to the consultant's leadership. There was never an issue over appointments or waiting times, and a big thank you to the consultant and team for giving me my life back.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. We are extremely grateful that you have taken the time to provide this feedback. We are very proud of the care, dedication and professionalism that staff have shown and how this has helped you during what has clearly been a very difficult time. Our staff work hard to try to ensure that a patient’s experience whilst at the hospital is as pleasant and comfortable as possible, and they are always considerably heartened and motivated on learning how much their efforts have been appreciated. We have passed your kind sentiments to staff in our Haematology Department. If we can be of further assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on freephone 0800 432 0251, email wih-tr.pals@nhs.net or in writing to PALS, Arrowe Park Hospital, Arrowe Park Road, Upton, Wirral, CH49 5PE.
