"fax numbers"

My GP surgery was unable to fax over an urgent referral as the switchboard did not have a fax number for the dept in question. You are given an extension number for depts that are never answered. Apparently you have to send a fax to outpatients which is fine but they did not provide a telephone number of the dept so that it could be followed up. The staff are unhelpful and seem to be weird about giving out telephone numbers! If you are from the outside you cannot seem to communicate with other depts via telephone.
