"Experience of surgery at Russells Hall"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

I rang ward b6 at 6.30am on Thursday 2nd of April 2009 to see if there was a bed for me, as my operation was scheduled for that morning. I was told, yes, there was a bed and to be there before 7.30am. I arrived early, at around 6.45, as I was keen to get it over and done with. When I got to the ward, I was told to wait in the waiting room, as there were no beds. I waited there until almost 10.45, when someone arrived to take me to theatre. As I was not ready, I was asked to get changed in an interview room, then walk to theatre. When I awoke after surgery, they had removed my front teeth, which were firmly fixed to a metal bridge.
