"Ebony Ward."

About: Darent Valley Hospital

My wife had been on ebony ward for about 5 days and was bought home by ambulance when I noticed that she was sodden with urine and faeces as was her nighty and the hospital linen she was in. I cleaned her and changed her pad and was shocked and so were her carers how red and sore she was. She obviously had not been cleaned and changed regularly. When she went into hospital she was not sore at all. She could hardly bare us to touch her. My wife has been into hospital many times over the years and we have never had cause to complain before.

I was extremely concerned to read about your wife’s experiences on Ebony Ward and please accept my sincere apologies. I have spoken to you personally regarding the concerns you have raised about your wife’s care and thank you for commenting that she received good care whilst on the ward. Please be assured that I have raised with the staff your feedback, especially the importance of final checks prior to being transferred home. With best wishes Fawez Molotoo Matron Ebony ward
