About: Hemel Hempstead Hospital

I went in to full on miscarriage (my second in the last 12 months), in the car whilst my husband and I were driving home to Aylesbury from North Mymms Herts. I could barely breathe or talk. I had memorised the yellow AA road signs to Urgent Care Centre from many journey's driving home through Hemel to Aylesbury. I somehow managed to direct my husband there, and arrived around 8pm on Weds 14th October. The receptionist was wonderful and quick. Whilst we sat in the waiting area she listened to my husband asking me if I wanted water and quickly advised him not to let me have water. In a matter of minutes I was checked over by a nurse who's compassionate care and attention was out of this world. I have had recent visits to Stoke Mandeville Hospital and never experienced care like that!! The doctor then saw me, and together with the nurse, they helped me with my miscarriage. The doctor then sat with me, he quietly and calmly explained what to do next and the ongoing care that I should expect to receive. I left there barely an hour later feeling not only sad I'd lost my baby but also just so thankful and elated at finally receiving care that was out of this world!!! The type of care you would expect in this day and age. I've never needed the NHS, or been hospitalised for any type of care or operation in my life. I am 39 yrs old. But in the last 12 months I have needed the NHS for the first time. Unfortunately the care at Stoke Mandeville Hospital Aylesbury, has been very hit and miss. They are struggling to deal with the influx of patients from West Wycombe A&E closure and a growing population in Aylesbury. I now feel sick every time I have to visit the hospital. If only more of the NHS was like this, the country would be a better place. I cannot praise Urgent Care Centre, Hemel Hempstead highly enough, you are a wonderful asset to the community. Thankyou.
