Underwent: Colonoscopy; MRI scan; CT Scan; diagnosed with recto-sigmoid tumour (Bowel Cancer). The doctor and his team carried out the Colonoscopy, and the operation to remove the tumour (Anterior Resection), in a very high professional manner, ensuring at all times that I was stress free, fully aware of the procedure and complications that could take place. Both the pre-op and post-op treatment was first class. The Elective Care Centre was very clean, organized and I was met with very friendly and helpful staff who prepared me for my operation. Everything was fully explained, and at all times I was kept informed of the situation. The anaesthetist explained his part in the operation, and provided essential information of the procedure that was about to take place. During my stay in hospital, from Monday 13th October to Friday 17th October 2014 inclusive, I was recovering in Mersea Ward, which was very clean, and staffed by friendly, helpful nursing staff, who monitored my recovery throughout. At all times I was treated with respect, consideration, and was provided with essential information necessary to understand the procedure(s) involved. I can recommend Colchester Hospital University to anyone, as my family and myself were treated with a cheerful and professional manner by all staff. The only drawback encountered was the food delivered to Mersea Ward was not always what was ordered, and the quality could be better.
