"Get your act together!!"

About: William Harvey Hospital

Don't know what is happening at the ENT Department. First problem - complete lack of communication - you ring, leave messages - No one ever calls you back. Have an investigative procedure - 2 months down the line, despite repeated calls to get an appointment made to review results - Nothing!! The worrying thing is if you have a serious illness - you are being neglected because it seems that there are no systems in place - What is going on? The mission statement of the Trust is rubbish because nothing they say is correct - they are not looking after patients. The worrying thing is that the Hospital is already in special measures, now I know why. With thousands more houses being built - at least 10,000 generally known about in the local area, how the heck can the hospital cope with even more people .... maybe 30,000 plus ... when it is unable to deal with current numbers. Very very worrying for us all I think. Something seriously needs sorting out generally and urgently!!

Response from Julie Pearce, Chief Nurse + Director of Quality + Operations, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for your feedback and we agree that we are struggling with the current number of patients referred to our services. We have had further discussions with our commissioners about additional resources needed. We have recruited to an additional consultant post and this will help the current situation however it will depend on whether the current high number of effervescent received continues to grow. The challenge appears to be whether the CCGs (GP commissioners) can find any additional funding to expand the services.

Please do make contact via email - Julie.pearce1@nhs.net and I will try to follow this through for you.
