"A&E care -"

About: University College Hospital

Visited A&E for a swollen, painful toe. Everything went well at the start, was seen to fairly swiftly except when I was seen by a doctor, they were very unsure about my injury. I was taken to have an x-ray (which was supposed to happen before seeing my doctor, apparently - disorganised) The results, which weren't shown to me, didn't come out well enough to determine what was wrong and the doctor guessed that it was a fracture, but will need to see another doctor in the week, and in the meantime I should get bandaged / prescribed medicine. So I was sent to the back of the clinic alone and was left to wait for 4-5 hours, didn't see the doctor again, until I finally asked who was supposed to see me. In the end I was left to leave in pain and wasn't given any medication / guidance for my injury and will have to wait for a phone call in 3-4 days to book an appointment. I personally don't think this is good enough and won't be going back.

Thank you for taking the time to feed back to us. We are very sorry to hear about your recent experience of emergency care at UCLH. We would be grateful if you could contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) via pals@uclh.nhs.uk or by calling 020 3447 3042 so that we can look into this.
