"Stayed in Meldon Ward August 2014"

About: Derriford Hospital

While staying on Nelson ward I felt very unsafe. There were not enough sisters and nurses covering the ward. They had a number of confused elderly patients who were obviously very demanding. Some of them were wandering around. If i pressed my buzzer it took over 20 minutes for someone to arrive. Half the time it was because one of the confused patients had got out of bed and was unsteady, likely to fall. I asked the sister what do you do if you need somebody in an Emergency she said just press your buzzer and shout! What if you cant shout? Very worrying! Nurses try their best but i think in this case they needed a lot more support.
