Labour ward experience was excellent. Had a dedicated midwife who was extremely helpful and caring. Post-labour ward experience was good, though midwives were very busy. Care for mother post-labour was fine. Communication about baby's problems could have been better, but this seemed due to demands on the midwives. Breastfeeding support was well-intentioned, but not successful - it would have been helpful to see the breastfeeding co-ordinator, who was incredibly helpful 6 weeks later! SCBU experience was excellent, and breastfeeding was established here with nipple shields (which are not given on the post-labour ward). We needed the shields for 4 months, but have successfully breastfed for nearly 2 years now. Overall, I would choose to give birth here again, but I do feel that the post-labour ward needs a boost in staff numbers.
