"Doctors/Nurses who scar patients ..."

About: St James's University Hospital

(as a relative),

What could be improved

Doctors/Nurses who scar patients for life performing caesareans where normal birth is possible MUST be taught a lesson/disqualified so that they NEVER force such unnecessary procedure onto other patients.

Anything else?

My first child was born. We were repeatedly told by a senior nurse that my wife will have to have caesarean. I refused, only to receive threats that baby is in danger of suffocating and will have brain damage if you don’t give us consent NOW to do this the baby might not make it. I was left without a choice. Later on we visited the local surgery only to be told by our doctor that the birth should have been normal as there was only a shortage of 1 cm. During the birth of my second child the same thing happened again, only this time I refused to give consent and the delivery was normal. The thing that SHOCKED ME was how convincing these so called senior nurses/doctors were, They NEVER put them self in patients shoes and did what’s right. They always try and convince patients to have caesarean treatment. My wife is left with a LARGE SCAR across her stomach FOREEVER. The doctors and nurses at St James are probably doing a record number of caesarean, but WHY!!! Do they get paid more? What do they Achieve? There must be something achieved! We still feel deeply sad and scarred for lifel this is the reason I wouldn't recommend St James Hospital to anyone I know.
