"Praise for professionals at BA"

About: Bishop Auckland Hospital

I attended BA hospital today (16.10.14) for an 11.20 appointment in the pain management unit (Ward 2). I was seen promptly at 11.20 by a senior staff nurse and her colleague. It was a thorough and detailed consultation and showed care and professionalism - and enthusiasm - that was uplifting and encouraging. I have a clear idea of my "part" in taking action (acupuncture, contact vascular/endovascular consultant) and that the nurse will talk with the doctor about options when she returns. Just as valuable, they refreshed my sense of hope The NHS is always painted as being in crisis - not a day passes, it seems, without some working party of "experts" pronouncing hand-wringing warnings. Today, based on my life-long experiences (mostly traumatic injury!) - and a seriously bad experience in the Durham hospital - I can reassure you that this was care of premium quality at the point of need. I don't know who reads feedbacks or to whoever they are forwarded. I will send feedback to the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust - and some suggestions about how to celebrate the care for vast numbers not recognised by those focussed on perceived shortcomings. As if the these critics' own background or organisations are beyond reproach... I have my own way of saying thank-you to the senior staff nurse and her colleague for what I perceive was a highly professional and human experience. Yes, free at the point of service, but that does not prevent a thank-you.
