I initially attended for my consultant appointment, and the first impressions are that you have accidentally walked into the lobby of a 5 star hotel. I registered with reception and was offered a complimentary refreshment from the coffee shop, as well as access to the daily newspapers. I was pleasantly surprised when the consultant himself collected me from the reception area. I subsequently attended a pre-op assessment the week before the scheduled surgery and repeated the pleasant experience of my first visit. On the day of surgery I was promptly taken up to the day care facility and allocated my own private pod with WC facilities, TV etc. I was visited by the surgeon and the anaesthetist and briefed before the operation which carried out just a matter of yards away. After the operation I was returned to the pod and was again visited by the surgeon around lunchtime to assess how well things had gone. I was offered a choice of sandwiches and if the rest of the culinary offerings is of the same standard then longer term in-patients are in for a treat! I was discharged 6 hours after admission. Since the operation I have had two follow up phone calls checking that all was well. As an overall experience I cannot fault this hospital. I have had a number of hospital experiences in both the NHS and private sectors and this particular hospital is leagues ahead!
