"Disgusting lack of communication causing patients..."

About: Hereford County Hospital

Grandad taken in 6 days ago after a fall. Every day they told me I could come and collect him and that he can be discharged, so every day without fail I've rang up to ask what time I can collect him, with my Grandad waiting patiently (and bored as hell) and they fob me off with "oh, I think he needs another blood test, so can't come home today". So why tell him he can go then, and get his hopes up?! Cruel people. Endless blood tests, scans. Never have we been given any results. Staff do not communicate with each other, always give you some excuse why you can't talk to someone in authority, no-one knows what's going on. Grandad has been shipped around various wards. Went to see him yesterday there were pills/ tablets all over his bed table. Said I'd take him home, they lied to me yet again, and said they need to see him get dressed in the morning. What?! Why couldn't they have done that there and then? More excuses. But I guess none of that matters, because they always seem to be able to provide a cup of tea....?! Disgusting place, no wonder it's in the news! A few decent staff but half them seem to chat about their nights out while I'm back and forth trying to find out information about their patient. But patients are just numbers and a bed to them. Shame on you, hang your heads in shame for making a 91 year old man suffer. Utter shambles, avoid avoid avoid.

We are very sorry to hear of your Grandad’s experience that you have outlined. We cannot emphasise enough that the care and treatment of every patient in our care is a priority. If patient care falls below the high quality standard that we aim to provide we want this to be raised so that it can be investigated. So that we can investigate this fully, please contact our Patient Experience Team, Monday to Friday, between 8.30am and 5pm, on 01432 355444 ext 2986.
