(as a relative),

My wife was recently in hospital. She had been told that she was on a zero fat diet due to her medical condition. The menu did not have any options for that & the nursing staff did not seem to know the difference between low fat & zero. Suggested main course was mince.

Dear Gezza

I am sorry to hear that your wife has been in hospital and your concerns over the menu and staff knowledge. I got your message last night and so I am on the case. I have asked Pam Garbe - one of our senior nurses in Caithness General to look into this. I havent had feed-back from Pam yet but I will speak to her later on today and get back to you.

Hi

There just needs a box on the menus for special diet & then someone can contact the patient to find out what kind of diet they are on & work out a menu. Does not have to be special items on each menu. I can see that would be expensive & complex
