Over one long weekend I was treated for severe bruising on the lower leg. Visual diagnosis that there was no breakage was confirmed by x-ray. The wound had been caused by falling. I received timely courteous and efficient care involving a variety of staff during four separate visits - each dovetailing with the previous consultation with no need to restart the process each time - evidence of accurate record keeping and good team work. I would recommend this unit (MIU) without reservation. Cleanliness was evident throughout the unit. I always felt more than adequately involved in the decisions being taken about my care, and I was fully prepared for rest and treatment at home and at Borough Green Medical Practice where I have my GP. The issue of same-sex accommodation was not relevant to my case. The accident had happened at Sevenoaks Station on 10 September when staff failed to deliver a boarding ramp which had been ordered. I am in the process of asking Southeastern Rail to compensate your unit and the Borough Green Practice for the costs of my treatment. Would you be able to provide me with an estimate which I could incorporate in my proposal? And can you tell me if there is a specific account to which donations can be made? I have asked for the same information from Borough Green since I see no reason why the consequences of failure by a for-profit company to provide adequate safety for its 'customers' should result in the resulting costs being covered from the public purse. Many thanks - Colin Young
