"Who says compassionate care doesn't exist any more..."

About: North Cotswold Hospital

My husband has just returned from three nights on the in patients ward. He has dementia and was recovering from a chest infection. As my star ratings show, I could not fault any aspect of the care, either medically or emotionally. AllL the staff were caring, kind, professional and supportive of my husband 's needs and mine, as his carer. I would particularly mention the people we had most contact with but everyone we met was delightful. The facilities are excellent and the food was perfectly acceptable with plenty of choice. The care my husband had was first rate and his dementia was handled sensitively and knowledgably. I was fully involved in decisions about his care and his discharge was well planned and coordinated. Thank you to everyone involved in getting him better. This is the NHS at its best and not a sign of the lack of compassion we read so much about. With just 22 semi acute beds, there seemed to be a bit less pressure on the staff than in an acute setting and perhaps this was what enabled them to have a bit more time to spend with patients which is the foundation of compassionate care. Just one small quibble about this feedback form... I notice that some months ago another reviewer complained about the drop down department menu which does not list the in patients ward. That reviewer was assured this was being looked at but months later, it's still the same! Given that half the hospital is devoted to in patients so it seems bonkers that it's not listed! Please correct this! Rosemary

Many thanks for taking the time to let us know your comments, It is always nice to receive feedback in order to continue to improve our services and we will certainly pass your thanks to staff at North Cotswold Hospital. We are pleased you and your husband’s experience at the hospital was a pleasant one. Providing quality care is something we are passionate about as a Trust, and our community hospitals strive to deliver a personal service to each patient and their family, during what can be a difficult time. With regards to your issues with the drop down menu thank you for alerting us to this. We have looked into changing this, but unfortunately it is not possible at this time. We will however continue to look at alternative ways to improve this feature on the site.
