"Infection control in Colchester"

About: Colchester General Hospital

(as the patient),

Visited Elmstead on 13 March with my daughter. My daughter was asked to use the alcohol rub to cleanse her hands before she entered the wards. I waited in their very nice reception area whilst she had her 40 minute procedure performed. During that time I observed no less than 6 clinical staff go through the doors onto the wards without using the alcohol rub on their hands, and numerous relatives did the same. All these people entered the unit from outside where they will have come into contact with all manner of bacteria. The clinical staff have absolutely no excuse for this behaviour.
