"Excellent treatment in A&E and assessment area"

About: Leighton Hospital

After spending 5 hrs in A&E at Leighton Hospital, Crewe, then a further 3 hrs in the evening visiting her in the adjacent assessment area I am in awe of the nursing staff. They appeared to be doing the work of three people, yet still serving the public with a smile and a comforting word? I do however have grave concerns for the health and welfare of these same dedicated people over time as they are each in danger of suffering with burn out, stress, relationship breakdown etc. Thank you to each of you, just don't forget that you also have a duty of care to yourself as well as your patients.

Many thanks for your kind and thoughtful words . The staff in the emergency department work very hard to ensure the quality of patient care is maintained regardless of pressures within the department . The Trust is very aware of the need to support all the staff and offer a number of services to support their health and wellbeing. I will, however, ensure your thoughts are shared with the staff in the department for them to consider. Best wishes Sue Talbot-Crosby, Matron, Emergency Department
