(as the patient),

I was transferred by ambulance to Stoke Mandeville A & E following a collapse in High Wycombe. Confused, I found myself in the ambulance being monitored, once the crew decided I needed to be 'checked out'. I was driven to Aylesbury and very efficiently handed over to A & E where I was triaged and found to be non-urgent (I by now, was feeling far better) however, in need of generally being observed prior to likely being discharged. The team had already contacted my family (I carried a brief medical synopsis in my wallet, including contact numbers) to advise them of my situation.

Following extensive and efficient (also I would add extremely friendly and re-assuring) care it was decided I should be discharged providing a friend or family could collect me and ensure I was suitably looked after for the night (the collapse occurred mid-afternoon). My bumps and abrasions were dressed and I was asked if I was happy to be discharged (I was) and advised to both immediately contact the Unit should I have any unexplained occurrences (I also had hit my head on my fall) and to let my specialists know of my experience (including my G P).

I would like to thank all involved for their ease of adapting to my needs/mood (I do not like being treated like a number - would much prefer to be involved) coupled with their care and dedicated professionalism and confidence in their own work.
