"Ortho Outpatients"

About: Southmead Hospital

Start with parking ..... tried all car parks - all full, including the few disabled spaces - just queues of other cars looking for spaces. Eventually parked, with other disabled users, tidily at the side of the road - all cars were given a parking ticket, despite displaying a disabled badge. Registered on screen, no direction where to go. Asked a helper, who suggested gate 12. (Why gate 12? There are no gates, it's open plan). Asked at reception and frostily told to watch the screen for our name. After half an hour, tried to ask again. Was ignored by the reception staff for some time. I smiled and waited (while they moaned about the draught, and studiously ignored me). They suggested I move to the next waiting area. Oh dear, this was overflowing! ‘Luckily’ we were sent to X-ray. (Why weren’t we sent there on arrival?) An hour wait was fairly accurately predicted, only a few minutes more. Back to reception, and eventually seen. Doctors, nurses, etc, all lovely and no complaints at all. Unfortunately my blood pressure will not survive another visit. If I do have to attend again, I will bring my camping gear, perhaps arrive the night before to secure parking? Oh – and despite comments that there are more WCs available, I had to queue here too!
