I was rushed into Musgrove very early on Sunday morning with acute abdominal pain which ended up in a laproscopic appendectomy on Sunday evening. From the moment I arrived in A&E to the moment I was discharged from Ward 2 (SAU) I was treated with the utmost care by a team who embody everything that is good and professional about the NHS. I was treated with dignity, gentleness, kindness and respect throughout by each individual I met. I wish I could remember the names of everyone who was involved in my care as each deserves special mention but, alas, pain and medication have clouded my memory. I would like to thank the entire staff though as I felt that each person was genuinely concerned for my well-being and wanted to ensure I was OK throughout the process. My heartfelt thanks must got to the A&E department first of all who were at the end of a busy shift but never once complained and made sure I was kept informed of what was going on and regularly checked up on. The ward staff of the SAU (Ward 2) were exemplary and I was made to feel welcome and safe in their care. Nothing was too much trouble and every member of staff was an absolute pleasure to encounter. The surgical team that I met prior to anaesthetic were brilliant - five incredibly funny guys who probably could tell I was nervous and made it their duty to relax me and even get several laughs before the surgery. Once again, I cannot praise the staff highly enough - though dealing with many patients I felt as if I was a top priority throughout my stay and, though I hope I won't have to return under the same circumstances, I know that if I did I would receive the best possible care.
