"The nursing staff in the Cardiac ..."

About: Basildon University Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The nursing staff in the Cardiac centre are excellent.

All of the staff (from both the day and night shifts) were polite, caring and approachable.

What could be improved

The information from the Doctor's and surgeon was non existent. I had one chance only before the operation to ask my doctor any question, and as the procedure had already been explained to me I had no questions to ask.

My surgeon never even introduced himself to me thoughout my stay.

However, after the operation nobody explained to me how the operation went, whether there was any complication or if it was straight forward, and only when I read my medical discharge notes (when I returned home) did I read that I would need to return as another defect had been found.

That was 4 weeks ago and I still have heard nothing from my Doctor, Consultant or Surgeon.

I feel like I have been abandoned.
